Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®
Frank Baird created Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® in 2001. What started out as a small group of men daring to totter around a park has grown to become a world-wide movement with tens of thousands of men raising millions of dollars for local rape crisis centers, domestic violence shelters and other sexualized violence education, prevention and remediation programs.
In Victoria, over the past six years, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes® has been a great opportunity for the Women’s Sexual Assault Centre to raise funds for our services and raise awareness about sexualized violence - we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our community and beyond. Throughout the years of hosting Walk a Mile in Her Shoes®, we have also received varied feedback about its impact and efficacy. This feedback is important to us and each year we aim to improve on both our education and fundraising goals. This year we would like to share with you some of the many conversations about this event and our involvement with it and and where it has brought us to date.
